Hi, I’m Dawn, I’m a hospice nurse, grief recovery coach, and Legal Nurse Consultant who believes that even in loss, there is light.
In the summer of 2024, I found myself in a place I never expected—an empty nester, overweight, exhausted, drowning in debt, and honestly, unable to see the light or get my head above water. Being a single mom from day one, I always thought my greatest accomplishment was that my daughter, Trystyn, had made it to adulthood. Teenage years are tough, and somehow, we survived them together.
My professional path has had its twists and turns. I started with an associate degree in Paralegal Studies, only to realize that wasn’t where my heart was. So back to school I went, and in March 2012 I passed the Indiana State Board of Nursing exam and became a registered nurse. Since January 2021, I’ve been serving as a hospice nurse, and that’s where I truly discovered my calling—walking alongside people and families through everyday grief and some of life’s hardest transitions.
Grief isn’t just something I see in others—it’s something I’ve lived. From being sexually assaulted as a teenager, to losing my dad and all my grandparents, to the loss of jobs, and even the quiet grief of watching my daughter step into adulthood and leaving me as an empty nester… loss has been a constant teacher in my life. And yet, every one of those experiences has shaped me into who I am today.
Now, life looks so different. I’m getting married October 2025 and will soon have three bonus children to love. I serve as a Clinical Manager and Administrator for a new home health company, while also building my own business as a Legal Nurse Consultant and Grief Recovery Coach. On a personal note, I’ve lost about 65 pounds, and more than that—I’ve found myself again. I feel happy, loved, and worthy. I’ve learned to voice what I want and need, and I’m not afraid to stand up for what I deserve.
When I look back, I feel nothing but gratitude. Every loss, every heartbreak, every challenge—it’s all made me appreciate the beauty of the life I have now. And that’s the story I carry with me into every patient’s room, every coaching session, and every new beginning.
