James LaVeck
Purpose as a Path Through Grief
Biography
James LaVeck is an author, grief recovery coach, and founder of LaVeck Media, where he helps people navigate loss, rebuild meaning, and move forward without being told to “get over it.”
After experiencing multiple personal losses, James recognized how poorly grief is understood—and how often people are left to manage it alone. Rather than offering quick fixes or clichés, his work focuses on honest reflection, emotional awareness, and practical tools that support real-life healing.
James is the author of Life After Losses, a memoir, and Grief Recovery for Adults, where he introduces the PURPOSE Framework—an approach designed to help individuals process grief, unload emotional baggage, reconnect with support, and open new chapters at their own pace and in their own way. His work emphasizes that grief is not something to “complete,” but something to integrate.
In addition to writing, James is a certified life coach and the creator of grief recovery courses, journals, and guided programs used by individuals and groups seeking compassionate, non-judgmental support after loss. His approach blends lived experience with structured guidance, offering permission for people to feel what they feel, without timelines or expectations.
James is also an independent filmmaker and storyteller. Through film, podcasts, blogs, and video content, he explores themes of resilience, identity, and transformation. Whether on screen or behind the microphone, his work centers on the belief that healing begins when people feel seen, heard, and understood.
Through Life After Losses, James continues to build a space where grief can be spoken about honestly, and where growth, hope, and meaning can exist alongside loss.
